2007 CIPFencing Pictures is proud to sponsor The Challenge International de Paris Grand Prix.
The CIP is one of the world's strongest foil tournaments. This year, FP will be providing slow motion for the referees. During a bout, the fencers will have three chance to ask for a replay. However — and this is a new rule! — if the fencer is right, then it doesn't count against their three challenges. As long as the fencers successfully challenge a ruling with a slow-motion replay, they can keep requesting more. This will be the first Grand Prix in the world where all bouts have slow-motion coverage, from the round of 32 up. CIP 2007 GalleryCIP 2007 — Bonnardel pictures of FP at work! |

News!Kleibrink GER wins the CIP! This is his second year in a row winning this incredibly strong Grand Prix. The Japanese fencers are very strong this year, and we would not be surprised to see some big results for them in the team event, being fenced Sunday. 2004 Olympic re-match! We will be presenting video of the Guyart/Cassara match. They met in 2004, and they met again yesterday at the CIP. Compare and contrast how these fencers have evolved since the timing change! FP is happy: French foil sensation Le Pechoux got a FP fencing mask! Dashing German Foilist: We will try go get an interview with an FP favorite, Wessels GER, and learn about how he's been doing recently. Team USA news: It seems that Dan Kellner is out of fencing. We don't know for how long — he has a bad elbow and a bad knee. Jon Tiomkin USA doubts he will be back soon. Results: Ota JAP beat Le Pechoux in the round of 8!! The score was 15/8. Mocek POL eliminated Wessels GER in the 64. More fencing results are at www.escrime-CIP.com.
Slow motion: FP provided slow-motion replays for all bouts, from the round of 64 and up. The fencers love it, and so do the referees — there is much less argument over the touches. |
