Fencers to watch: Slawomir Mocek POL currently seeded 10th is always worth watching; Peter Joppich GER will be looking to better his 2005 Leipzig result; Ralf Bissdorf GER has been placing very high this year. James Beevers GBR, seeded 22nd, got heartbreakingly close to the top last year -- is he "on" again this year?
Surprises: Wojciech Szuchnicki POL is eliminated in the 96!

Andras Horanyi USA upset by lower-ranked Christos Makropoulos SWE; Kurt Getz USA victorious over Somogy Varga DEN; Jon Tiompkin USA victorious over Nicholas Teisseire CAN.
In the 64, Jedediah Dupree USA is seeded 17th, and is up against Richard Cruse GBR; Tiompkin is facing Stefano Barrera ITA; Kurt Getz USA facing Bojan Jovanovic CRO.
